=========================== Dataset: Dell-Laptop Domain: IT Product =========================== ------- Version ------- Version 1.0 (Dec 2017) ----------- Description ----------- The Dell Laptop product line consists of a product equipped with all the operations and facilities needed to operate a laptop. Our standard laptop product line combines the components, inputs, outputs, and capabilities of a desktop computer, including the features: processor, operating system, drives, monitor, memory, hard drive, video card, and wireless. The product configuration is performed as a process of customization and generation of a specific product for a customer depending on their context of use. Laptops became widely used for a variety of purposes, such as at work, in education, in playing games, Internet surfing, for personal multimedia, for traveling sales, and general home computer use. The configuration activity defines the features or properties that a laptop must have that meet the customers needs to perform their activities. For example, hardware specifications, such as the processor speed and memory capacity, significantly vary between different contexts. This product line is considered a medium-sized application as it is composed of 68 features and billion of possible different valid product variants. --------------- Data statistics --------------- 68 features 42 previous configurations > 10^9 possible valid configurations (S.P.L.O.T. tool ) 7 cross-tree constraints 4 context dimensions - Usage [Game, Play, Program, Study, Work] - Line [Personal, Professional, Gamer] - Price [Cheap, Medium, Expensive] - Performance [Low, Medium, High] --------------------- Files and data format --------------------- The data is formatted as follows: * Dell-Laptop.xml This file contains the specification of the Dell-Laptop feature model and it can be imported in FeatureIDE tool . * configurations ".xml" Each file contains the names of the selected and unselected features by each customer. The set of all files is used as our historical dataset of configurations to make predictions. The files can be imported in FeatureIDE tool . ------- License ------- The customer names and other personal information are not provided for this dataset. The data contained in Dell-Laptop.zip is made available for non-commercial use. ---------------- Acknowledgements ---------------- This work was supported by the National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development - CNPq (grant 202368/2014-9). ---------- References ---------- When using this dataset you should cite: <@inproceedings{PSF+:SPLC18, title={N-dimensional Tensor Factorization for Self-Configuration of Software Product Lines at Runtime}, author={Pereira, Juliana Alves and Schulze, Sandro and Figueiredo, Eduardo and Saake, Gunter}, booktitle={Proceedings of the International Systems and Software Product Line Conference(SPLC)}, pages={?}, year={2018}, organization={ACM} }> and (or) <@inproceedings{PSF+:SAC18, title={Visual Guidance for Product Line Configuration Using Recommendations and Non-Functional Properties}, author={Pereira, Juliana Alves and Martinez, Jabier and Kumar, Hari and Krieter, Sebastian and Saake, Gunter}, booktitle={Proceedings of the Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC)}, pages={2058–2065}, year={2018}, organization={ACM} }> ------- Credits ------- The product line and dataset of configurations have been adapted from S.P.L.O.T. tool .
