4th International Workshop on
|
Following the success of the three preceeding workshops on Hybrid Methods for Adaptive Systems organised during the eunite symposia 2001 - 2003 in Tenerife, Albufeira and Oulu we are pleased to announce that the 4th workshop is going to take place during the eunite 2004 symposium in Aachen, Germany from June 10-12, 2004.
The organising committee, the eunite research committee for Integration of Intelligent Methods and Hybrid Systems, is working on the integration of fuzzy systems, neural networks, evolutionary computation, machine learning and related technologies. The goal of the committee is to provide a common platform to discuss and exchange research results and to define a common terminology. We are especially interested in combinations of the above-mentioned methods and their application to adaptation in hybrid systems.
We view adaptation not as a single learning cycle that creates a model from data but as a continuous process that enables a system to fit into its environment and perform suitably, even if the environment changes. Adaptation can be necessary to regain or maintain consistency, to meet changing user requirements or for optimisation. Examples of features that can be adapted in an information system are parameters, structure, trajectory, task, plan, goals and organisation.
The purpose of this workshop is to stimulate cross-community discussion and to collect state-of-the-art contributions. The authors of selected workshop contributions will be invited to submit an extended paper to the special issue of a major journal in this field.
We encourage researchers and practitioners from all fields to submit papers from the area described above that consider one or more of the following themes:
Contributions can have up to 10 pages in length and should be submitted electronically in PDF or postscript format to Andreas Nürnberger (nuernb@iws.cs.uni-magdeburg.de). Papers with 4 pages or less are considered as extended abstracts. Accepted papers will be published in the eunite 2004 proceedings. The authors of selected workshop contributions will be invited to submit an extended paper to the special issue of a major journal in this field.
Submissions should be formatted according to the guidelines of the main conference. A zip-file containing formatting instructions for the paper as well as the abstract for the conference booklet can be downloaded here.
