CALL FOR PAPERS
Transactions and Database Dynamics
Eighth International Workshop on
Foundations of Models and Languages for Data and Objects
September 27th - 30th, 1999
organized by
University of Magdeburg,
GI-Arbeitskreis ``Grundlagen von Informationssystemen''
(German Informatics Society - Working Group ``Foundations of Information Systems'')
This international workshop will be the eighth in a series focusing on
foundations of models and languages for data and objects. The main
principle of this workshop series is to concentrate on one selected
topic and to offer the opportunity for in-depth exchange of ideas and
experiences. In order to stimulate extensive discussions, the time for
the presentation of a long (short) paper is 60 (30) minutes followed
by about 30 (15) minutes of discussion. Furthermore, another
participant will be asked in advance to prepare a response to the work
presented. In addition to the talks, there will be working groups
which concentrate on current research topics and try to develop a
common understanding of the problems involved. Due to the special
character of the workshop, every participant is expected to stay for
the complete duration of the workshop.
Relevant Topics
The general focus of this workshop
will be on ``Transactions and Database Dynamics''.
Typical, but not exclusive topics of interest are:
- formal models for transactions and database behavior
- foundations of advanced transaction models
- logical framework for transactions and database dynamics
- specification of database behavior
- semantics for database dynamics
- method specification and transaction refinement
- design of transactions and database dynamics
- dynamic integrity constraints
- semantic transactions and compensation
- specification, verification, and validation of transaction protocols
- transactions in active databases
- transactions in distributed and federated databases
- transactional workflows
- transactions in mobile computing and special applications
- new applications for transactions
