Multimedia and Security Workshop at ACM Multimedia

Recently, security has become one of the most significant issues for many new information technologies that manipulate and distribute digital documents. The ease with which digital data can be copied and multiplied without any information loss requires security solutions in areas, such as distributed production processes and electronic commerce, where the producers seek to provide access control mechanisms to prevent misuse and theft of digital material as well as unauthorized modification. Another important aspect of digital security is detection of steganographic communication on the Internet. The need for reliable and accurate detection of steganography is rapidly gaining on importance amongst law enforcement and homeland defence. One of the intended goals of the workshop is to present the most recent advances in the field of digital security and set a platform able to identify key issues to be addressed by future research.

The mission of the ACM Multimedia and Security Workshop at ACM Multimedia is to bring together experienced researchers, developers, and practitioners from academia and industry for a discussion of security of multimedia digital watermarking and cryptographic techniques as well as the impact of digital manipulations and steganographic channels. The workshop reflects the strengths and weaknesses of what the multimedia community has to offer to meet the needs of secure multimedia environments. Due to the rather wide scope of this workshop, participants get an excellent overview of current research areas as well as recent advancements and they also have an opportunity to discuss the ongoing progress and identify relevant future research problems.

sed on the excellent experience we had last year when the workshop celebrated its 5th anniversary, we expect that the workshop will be a successful and fruitful event advancing our knowledge of multimedia and security.
